  • A genome project was a 13 yr project coordinated by US department of energy , national institute of health, the welcome trust (UK) ,Japan ,China, France, Germany and others.
  • this project is completed in 2003.

Goals of human genome project:-

  • identify all approx 20,000- 25000 genes in human DNA.
  • determine the sequence of 3billion base pair
  • store this information in database.
  • transfer the information to the health sector
  • Address the ethical, legal and social issue that may arises from the project.
