the humble pizza IS surely the most overrated and overpriced THING on the planet, since it is soe dough, EGGS and cheese, IT has roots from southern Italy , but has become a worldwide FETISH/CRAZE. It is a dish that (is) ENJOYED to as all, and a few, if any, modern tweaks to the REST come from the land of it's birth. the most recent upgrade ARE thick crust and stuffed pizzas.

PS. Although I answered it I highly disagree with it. Pizzas are the most amazing food ever. I didn't write FETISH for nothing. It is actually my FETISH tbvh. xD
