There is a best shortcut method to find hybridisation first count surrounding atom leaving main atom for example in NH4+ N is main atom and there is 4 surrounding atom then according to formula H equals SA+half(G-V+E for -ve charge and -E for +ve charge ).where H is hybridisation SA is surrounding atom G is valence electron for main atom V is valency of all surrounding atoms E is no of charge .In NH4+ H is 4+half (5-4-1) equals 4+0 where 4 is bond pair and 0 is lone pair equals 4 so hybridisation is sp3 and shape is tetrahedral .in this hybridisation you have to count full main stom. Atom valence electron and simple valency in V for all surrounding atom for example in iodine G is 7 but V is 1. In NO2+ H is 2+half(5-4-1) equals 2 and it is sp and linear.similarly you can try for more hybridisation.
