Answer:

Here, in the right angled triangle,

Hypotenuse : 10 cm

Let the first side be : x cm

Second side be : (x - 3) cm

(Why? Because the other side differ by 3 cm)

According to the Pythagoras Theorem,

Hypotenuse² = Base² + Altitude²

ACCORDING TO THE QUESTION:

(x)² + (x-3)² = (10)² (Equation Formation)

= x² + x²+9 = 100 (Result of the exponents)

=> x²+x² = 100-9 (Turning of +9 to Right Hand Side and changing into -9)

=> 2x² = 91 (Adding of like terms)

=> x² = 91/2 (Division)

=> x = √91/2 (Providing radical sign)

Hence,

First side : 91/2

Second one : 91/2 - 3
