the hypotenuse of a right angle triangle is 13 cm if one of the two other sides is 5 cm find the length of its third side

12 cm

Using Pythagoras theorem,

Base square+altitude square=hypotenuse square

5 square+x square=13 square

25+x square=169

=x square=169-25

x square=144

x=square root of 144

Therefore

x=12cm
