The lengths of the side of the triangle are 4 cm , 3 cm and 5 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Hypotenuse = 5 cm

Let the perpendicular and base of right angled triangle be x and y

We are given that the other 2 sides differ by 1cm

So, x-y=1

y = x-1

So, Base = x-1

Using Pythagoras theorem

Hypotenuse^2 = Perpendicular^2+Base^2\\5^2=x^2+(x-1)^2\\25 = x^2+x^2+1-2x\\2x^2-2x-24=0\\x^2-x-12=0\\x^2-4x+3x-12=0\\x(x-4)+3(x-4)=0\\(x+3)(x-4)=0\\x=-3,4

Since the side cannot be negative

So, Perpendicular = 4 cm

Base = x-1 = 4-1 = 3 cm

Hence The lengths of the side of the triangle are 4 cm , 3 cm and 5 cm
