the hypotenuse of a right triangle is 17 cm long if one of the remaining two sides is 8 cm in length find the of the other side

by using Pythagoras theram we get
(h)^2 = (b)^2 + (p)^2
(17)^2 = (8)^2 + (p)^2
289=64+(p)^2
289-64 =(p)^2
225=(p)^2
 \sqrt{225}  = {p}
p =  \sqrt{15 \times 15}  \\ p = 15
hence other side is 15cm
