Let 8 cm be it's perpendicular

h^2=p^2 + b ^2

(17)^2= (8)^2 + b^2

289=64 + b^2

289-64=b^2

225 = b^2

root 225 = b

15 cm = b

So the length of another side is 15 cm

Hope it helps !

Step-by-step explanation:

use pythagoras theorem

hypotenuse^2 = base^2+ hight^2

third side = root (17^2- 8^2)

=root(289-64)

=root(225)

= 15
