ANSWER

Given: Hypotenuse of right triangle =25 cm

Let the other sides be x and x+5

Thus, By Pythagoras Theorem:

252=x2+(x+5)2

625=x2+x2+25+10x

2x2+10x−600=0

x2+5x−300=0

x2+20x−15x−300=0

(x+20)(x−15)=0

x=15,−20

Thus, the other two sides are 15 cm and 20 cm.

\large\bf{\underline{Question;-}}

the hypotenuse of right angle triangle is 25cm the sum of the two other side is 31cm.find the other two sides.

\large\bf{\underline{Given;-}}

  • Hypotenuse of right angle ∆ is = 25cm
  • Sum of other two sides is = 31cm

\large\bf{\underline{To\: find:-}}

  • Other two sides=?

So,

  • Let the height be x cm
  • and, (31-x)cm

\large\bf{\underline{Solution;-}}

  • By Pythagoras theorem

\tt→ x^2+(31-x)^2=25^2\\\tt→ x^2+961-62x+x^2=625\\\tt→ 2x^2-62x+336=0\\\tt→ x^2-31x+168=0\\\tt→ x^2-24x-7x+168=0\\\tt→ x(x-24)-7(x-24)=0\\\tt→ (x-24)(x-7)=0\\\tt→ x-24=0,x-7=0\\\tt→ x=24,x=7

Hence,

other two sides are = 24cm and 7cm
