Answer:

Hadrian's Wall was a stone barrier built to separate the Romans and the Picts tribes in Scotland. It allowed Roman soldiers to control the movements of people coming into or leaving Roman Britain.Hadrian's Wall was the north-west frontier of the Roman empire for nearly 300 years. It was built by the Roman army on the orders of the emperor Hadrian following his visit to Britain in AD 122.When garrisoned it was reasonably effective. It stopped all but the most determined Pictish raids. However, Hadrian's wall is very long, and even with the legions in Britain it was rarely possible to garrison all of it.
