Yes, I do agree with the given statement.

Because,

  • Globalization is somehow a hurdle for the local or national scale economies. Because, the globalization enables the establishment of huge international companies which have much more greater influence than any other local or national competitive. Due to this unequal competition, the national and local economies, stays behind in the race.
  • The globalization also established the technological innovation in the industrial sectors which decreased lot of manual labour works. This is extremely harmful for the income of the industrial labour workers.

And many more.

If you want to disagree with the statement:

Globalisation has proved beneficial for everyone, directly or indirectly.

* Globalisation has opened up the domestic Indian market to foreign investors looking to establish their manufacturing units or offshore IT offices in countries with low labour rates. Every such factory or unit has created employment opportunities for the locals. This is especially important, given the high population and low employment opportunities in India. It reduces unemployment, which in turn reduces crime in society.

* Globalisation has given us easy access to technology. It is because of globalisation that many technological advancements that have been developed abroad, are being used in India. This is crucial in the field of medicine, particularly during these times, when we are waiting for a vaccine against Covid-19. Without globalisation, the communication between nations would have been very restricted and each nation would be existing in its own bubble. Now however, the world has come together in its medical fight.

If you want to agree with the statement:

Globalisation is a term that focuses on going international, but its ill-effects can be clearly seen at the domestic level.

*  Foreign products, available at cheap prices have flooded the markets. As a result, the local businesses and artisans suffer. There are no takers for the local products, which brings down the per capita income while increasing unemployment rates. Unemployment is closely related to an increase in crime. So globalisation puts everyone at risk.

* Each nation has its own unique culture. Globalisation has caused the culture not just to be diluted, but also brought conflicting ideas into society. For instance, what may be acceptable in American society, might not be acceptable in the Indian scenario. These conflicts can be seen at home, in school and even in offices and have become a cause of stress and frustration build up, especially in the younger generations.
