“The impact of the French Revolution (1789) was initially confined the Europe, but, that of the Russia Revolution (1917) was global.”
Post revolution, there needs a strong leader to keep the revolutionaries in control. France had Napoleon and Russia had Stalin. Stalin proved to be more aggressive and ruthless. He formed USSR after winning territories from the other monarchies that attacked him.
Post revolution there needs to be a popular philosophy to spread to other countries.
The french revolution was more about human rights of men and a formation of governments. It supported capitalism.
The Russian revolution was against capitalism and equal rights to men and women. It was against exploitation of workers, Land reforms and socialistic government. This became more popular because by the end of 19th century the ill effects of capitalism were predominantly visible everywhere.
The period from 1901-1905 saw an economic downturn in the world beginning in the United States. Capitalism and the world market link together the most far-flung comers of the world. The crisis that hit the U.S. in those years sent ripples through the economies of every other country.
Capitalism requires access to the world’s resources to produce commodities. It also pushes capitalists to dominate territory, developing ever-expanding markets in order to maintain a steady growth of profits. The capitalist governments set armies of military and diplomatic personnel to work against each other. By the beginning of 1914 the worldwide competition for resources and the control of markets had put the countries of Europe in a state of constant military confrontation. Every country kept its armies at the ready. War inevitably sprung from this intense competition between capitalist countries. The international capitalist class fought among itself to decide whose hand would redraw the map when the killing was done. The victors would be able to claim the worlds’ markets and raw materials as their own. Worldwide, the working class suffered slaughter and deprivation as the imperialist powers fought. Economies were wrecked and people starved while the capitalists profited from the destruction, hoarding the necessities of life to sell for immense profits.
