Step-by-step explanation:

Let the income of A and B be 15x and 28x.

savings of B is ₹40,000 and their ratios are 1:2

So 1:2 = x : 40000

1/2 = x/40,000

x = 40,000/2 = 20,000

saving + expenditure = Income

expenditure = income - saving

5 : 4 = (15x – 20000) : (28x – 40000)

5/4 = 15x –20000/ 28x –40000

( do cross multiplication)

5(28x–40000)=4(15x–20000)

140x – 2,00,000 = 60x – 80,000

140x –60x = 2,00,000 – 80,000

80x = 1,20,000

x = 1500

substitute this in A and B

A = 15x = 15 × 1500 = 22,500

B = 28x = 28 × 1500 = 42,000
