Article 17 of the Indian constitution prohibits untouchability and it's practice in any form is a punishable offense. Therefore, noone can deny access to someone for enrollment into schools colleges and jobs on the grounds of gender, caste, religion etc.

Article 334 of the Indian constitution lays down that 27% of the seats in the two houses of Parliament in the national, state and local level should be reserved for the scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, and OBCs.

Article 14 of the constitution highlights the right to equality before law. This ensures that there is no special privilege in favour of anyone, that all are equally subject to the ordinary law of the land and that no person, whatever be his rank or condition, is above the law.

Right to equality is considered to be one of the inalienable rights of human and plays a significant role in the upliftment of the various backward classes. This particular right helps in achieving social and economic justice.

Article 16 of the Constitution of India clearly mentions that the State shall treat everyone equally in matters of employment. No citizen shall be discriminated on the basis of race, caste, religion, creed, descent or place of birth inrespect of any employment or office under the State. Every citizen of India can apply for government jobs.
