HI THERE
The Indian cotton export market collapsed and the local market shrank because of the following reasons:
- British companies pressurized the government to increase import duties which led to a decrease in export.
- Manchester produced cheap goods with the help of new machinary and the weavers were not able to compete with them.
The British companies forced the East India company to sell cheap machine good in India which resulted in the shrinking of local market.
