The Indian subcontinent was divided or portioned into India and Pakistan before India got its Independence from the colonial rule of the Britisher.

The division was based and framed on the majority of religion with India left behind being a majority of Hindus and Pakistan that was carved out of the country is a majority of Muslims.

This partition that was done in 1947, brought two distinctly independent countries. Radcliffe line is the imaginary boundary line that divides and exists as a geographical boundary partition between India and Pakistan.
