Answer:

The industrial revolution led to greater urbanisation with farmers migrating to urban factories for work. Yes we see this trend in India. This trend was first seen when first cotton mill was open in 1856, many workers migrated from Gujarat and Mahrashtra in search of work to Bombay. Same case was seen when first cement mill was started in 1904 and first jute mill was set up at Rishra(near Kolkata) in 1859.

The following are the measures which can be taken to stop this trend :

• Farmers migrate to different in search of work and employment. So in rural areas industries especially agro-based industries can be set up. This will provide employment to the workers even in seasons when there is no work in fields.

• Government can make policies for the farmers to protect their interest. Also the must be given cheap credits to increase their income and improve their standard of living.

• Government must focus upon public services to improve conditions of labourers in rural areas. This will also provide employment to workers. It is assumed that around 5,00,000 jobs can be generated from health care and education sector itself.

• Better provisions for education and food care. The public distribution system also works well in this. This will increase the income of family of rural areas.

• Better provisions should be there for social services. Services like road building, construction of dams and canals, etc. can provide a large scale employment to people.
