The inherent defects of the Weimar Republic pushed the Germans away from Democratic system and closer to the ideology of Hitler.

There were mainly two reasons for this

(i) The Weimar Republic had been carrying out proportional representation. This made achieving majority by any single party nearly impossible, ultimately leading to coalition government.

(ii) Another defect was the Article 48, which allowed the President to suspend any civic meetings, impose emergency and rule by decree.

These defects made the Weimar Republic fragile and were favourable for Hitler's allies and his party.
