Answer:

10 m

Explanation:

Given:

v_{i}=30cm/s=0.3m/s

v_{f}=3.7m/s

Δt=5s

Solution:

Δd=(\frac{v_{i}+v_{f}  }{2 } )t

Δd=(\frac{0.3 m/s+3.7 m/s  }{2 } )5s

Δd=10 m

G I V E N :

  • The initial and final velocity of a moving body are 30 cm per second and 3.7 metre per second respectively and time taken is 5 seconds.

T O F I N D :

  • Distance covered (s) in 5 seconds = ?

S O L U T I O N :

  • Initial Velocity (u) = 30 cm/s = 0.3 m/s
  • Final Velocity (v) = 3.7 m/s
  • Time Interval (t) = 5 seconds

First of all we have to find acceleration of the body by using first equation of motion :

→ v = u + at

→ 3.7 = 0.3 + a(5)

→ 3.7 - 0.3 = 5a

→ 3.4 = 5a

→ a = 3.4 ÷ 5

a = 0.68 m/s²

Therefore, acceleration of the body is 0.68 m/.

Now, let's calculate the distance covered by the body in 5 seconds by using second equation of motion :

➝ s = ut + ½ at²

➝ s = 0.3 × 5 + ½ × 0.68 × (5)²

➝ s = 1.5 + 0.34 × 25

➝ s = 1.5 + 8.5

s = 10 m

Therefore,distance covered by the body in 5 seconds is 10 m.
