  • Given :-

The inner diameter of a metal cylindrical pipe is 38 cm and its outer diameter 45cm and height is 1 m

  • To find :-

The mass of the pipe if 1cm³ weights 5g

  • Solution :-

→ Height of pipe = 1 m = 1 × 100 = 100cm

  • 1m = 100cm

→ Outer diameter = 45 cm

→ outer radius (R) = 45/2 cm

  • Inner diameter = 38cm
  • Inner radius (r) = 38/2 = 19 cm

Explanation :-

→ Volume of inner cylindrical pipe - Volume of outer cylinderical pipe

  • πR²h - πr²h

→ πh(R² - r²)

  • - = (a + b)(a - b)

→ πh[(R + r)(R - r)

→ 22/7 × 100(45/2 + 19)(45/2 - 19)

→ 22/7 × 100(22.5 + 19)(22.5 - 19)

→ 2200/7(41.5 × 3.5)

→ 2200/7 × 145.25

→ 2200 × 20.75

→ 45650 cm³

Volume of pipe is 45650 cm³

  • 1cm³ weight 5g

→ 45650 × 5

→ 228250 g

  • 1kg = 1000g

→ 228250/1000 = 228.2 kg

  • Mass of pipe is 228.2 kg
