The inner membrane of mitochondria is deeply folded why?? . what is it's advantage .

The inner membrane of mitochondria is highly folded because, there are oxysomes present in the inner membrane of mitochondria which help in syntehesis of energy currency of the cell i.e. ATP and to increase the surface area for ATP production.
