VILLI IS REQUIRED IN SMALL INTESTINE BECAUSE a lot of nutrients have to be absorbed in the small intestine. Lots of cells on a small area makes this process efficient. The stomach collects the food, adds gastric acid and enzymes for digestion of food.

The inner wall of the small intestine bears numerous finger like projections called villi increases the surface of the small intestine & helps in absorption of nutrients from the digested food whereas oesophagus is a muscular tube that connects our mouth to the stomach . When we swallow food , oesophagus by the peristaltic movement of its muscular wall . No digestion occurs in the oesophagus .
