The metallic tube of an immersion water heater is insulated, usually by Magnesium Oxide powder.

The tube contains heating elements which is normally made of fine nichrome (NiCr), resistance heating alloy wire. The tube is made of stainless steel alloys or copper.

Immersion water heaters are easy to use and store. They are usually plugged on to an electric socket and the immersion tubes are kept dipped in water. Electricity passing through the immersion tubes heat up the elements within, thereby heating the tube and the water.
