The intelligence quotients (I.Q.s) of10 boys in a class are given 70, 120, 110, 101, 88, 83, 95, 98, 107, 100. Find the mean and median of I.Q.

Mean=Sum of all observations/ Number of observation.

 \frac{70 + 120 + 110 + 101 + 88 + 83 + 95 + 98 + 107 + 100}{10}

 = 97.2

Therefore, mean is 97.2

Median

Ascending order is

70,83,88,95,98,100,101,107,110,120

The total number is 10

Thus, middle number positions are 5th and 6th

Hence median is

 \frac{98 + 100}{2} = 99

Thus, median is 99
