The internal measures of a cuboidal room are 12m×8m×4m. Find the total cost of white washing all four walls of a room, if the cost of white washing is Rs 15 per m2 (sq.) . What will be the cost of white washing if the ceiling of the room is also white washed.

Cuboid:::
l = 12, b = 8 , h = 4 m
to find : lateral surface area
Soltion :: lateral surface of cuboid = 2h ( l + b )
= 2* 4 ( 12 + 8 )
= 4 * 20
= 80 sq. cm
Now cost for painting 2 sq.m = 15 * 80
= 1200 rupees
If we consider ceiling of cuboid then , it will be total surface area.
hence, tptal surface area = 2( lb + bh + lh )
= 2 * ( 12 * 8 + 8*4 + 12 * 4 )
= 2 * ( 176 )
= 352 sq. cm
So cost will be = 352 * 15
= 4,280 rupees
