Given,

f(y) = 3y...(i)

To find f-¹off (y)

We know, f(f-¹(y)) = y

=> 3f-¹(y) = y

So f-¹( y) =

 \frac{y}{3}

Hope it helps:)

Answer:

y/3

Step-by-step explanation:

f(y) = 3y, let f(y) = x => f-¹(y) = f(x) = y

Here,

=> f(y) = x

=> 3y = x

=> y = x/3

Hence, f-¹(y) = y = x/3. Just by merely replacing y and x, f-¹(y) = y/3.
