The terror exists only till the time we have fear of death. In death, all sensations stop and we have no more fear. The author wants to convey that it is not the death but the fear of death that bring terror and panic our minds. We should know this fact that each person has to die one day. No one is immortal. Once we accept the inevitability of death, we will overcome the fear of death.
