Answer:

The Magi also known as the wise men were the people from Asia who went to see the new born baby Jesus Christ. They presented costly gold and perfumes to him. They worshipped him and departed. We do not know which country of Asia they belong to. The costly gifts means they were either Kings or men of nobility. It must have been a long and difficult journey for them. But there is no doubt that it was a religious journey to find Jesus and pay their homage to him.

Answer:

It is a spiritual journey in the sense that the Magi traveled from a far away oriental land and eventually found the baby Jesus. They paid their homage and offered him precious gift. In other words, it was as if they went on a pilgrimage.
