(iii) The industry consumes huge quantities of water for processing raw jute

which is easily available from the Hugli river.

(iv) Inexpensive water transport is supported by a good network of railways,

roadways and waterways to facilitate movement of jute to the mills.

(v) Kolkata port provides facilities for export of jute goods.

(vi) Kolkata provides good banking and insurance facilities.
