Functions of kidney are as follows :-

1. The Basic function of kidney is excretion of wastes.

2. It helps regulation of some chemicals and minerals.

3. It plays vital role in controlling the blood pressure by giving response to aldosterone which is produced by the adrenal glands.

4. Also some harmones are produced by the kidney which play very important role in the erythropoiesis i.e. formation of red blood cells or simply RBCs.

5. It plays role in calcium metabolism by the process of homeostasis.

6. Kidneys help in removing the drugs from the body as well.

7. Kidneys are also responsible for maintaining the pH of the body as well.
