initial kinetic energy = x
therefore,
ΔK.E.=final kinetic energy - initial kinetic energy
= (x/4) - x {taking LCM}
= (x - 4x)/4
= -3x/4
since, work done = ΔK.E. = ΔP.E
∵ P.E.= K.E.=-3x/4
