Answer:

The king wished to wear finest clothes on the earth. Great weavers came, prepared nice cloths, but the king was not

satisfied. Finally a head weaver arrived and made invisible clothes for him. Everyone viewed the king naked, yet they

all were applauding and appreciably. Some praised out of custom, some with fears, some people who rented their

common sense to others praised because of their habit of flattery. Some supplicants and some suitors also praised

king’s invisible dress; after all it’s the dress of their king.

Everyone in the crowd knew the reality. In the flattering coward crowd full of opportunists and fools, there was a child

who was truthful, straightforward and fearless.

Thinking about his so called glory, the king stepped out in the state on the roads of the success and reality. Again the

crowd of flatters gathered and started to applaud and appreciate. But there the poet is not able to find that child

among the crowd.

Poet says,” Is he hiding in some cave far away in the mountain or is he sleeping somewhere at some unknown

riverside under some tree or being tired or exhausted playing with grass and soil?”

Poet then stresses on the necessity to find the child and expects that the child should stand in front of this naked

king. His voice should suppress the soul of clapping and again he shall ask “ oh! King where are your clothes?”

The poem is a satire and a taunt for flatterers the symbolic king and the symbolic subjects also can be seen in

today’s reality. When people stay silent in the name of maintaining peace in the world, poet drives an idea of bravery

and need to stand against evil in the form of brave child.
