The first ever recorded thermometer was made by the Italians, a group of Venetian scientists named Santorio Santorio (1561-1636).
It was one of the many groups of Venetian scientists who were working on this concept in the late Sixteenth Century.
Just like many inventions of that period, the invention and concept of thermometer came about because of the work of various scientists and was then improved by many others.
This is because this first thermometer was considered the first temperature measuring device but concepts of air presure and lack of accuracy demanded chnages.
