The sentence in indirect speech is:

The lady said that they thought that she was going to say but she had not snatched people's pocketbooks.

Explanation:

  • When a sentence is changed from direct to indirect speech, many things are changed accordingly.
  • The tense form of the verb is changed to the pasty form.
  • The inverted commas and commas are removed.
  • Also, the pronoun used is changed accordingly. It is changed from the first person of either second person or third person.
