The physiography of India shows huge variations.

=> The North of the country is mountain-capped- The Himalayas act as the northern boundary of India. The loftiest mountains of the world like the Mt. Everest and Kanchenjunga are a part of the Himalayan range.

=> The South of the country is a peninsula of the Indian Ocean- Thus, coastal climate prevails over the year. It is in stark contrast to the chilly low temperatures in the North.

=> The Western India is mostly a desert- The Thar Desert covers the states of Gujarat and Rajasthan where they hardly receive 150 mm of rainfall annually.

=> The Eastern India is a region of Plains and Mountains- The plains have several perennial rivers and also receive adequate monsoon rains. The North –East is again a hilly terrain.  Mawsynram in Meghalaya records the maximum rainfall in the world.

Hey friend Ur answer is

If plate tectonics wasn't driving it into the continent of Asia, the subcontinent of India would be a lot flatter. Mountains are forming along the northern edge, along with many smaller wrinkles of foothills.
Due to its position between two large bodies of water and proximity to the very warm Indian Ocean, it has much rainfall in some areas. But some are quite dry for extended periods. This country also has a monsoon season which sculpts the land by erosion.

The Peninsular Plateau constitutes one of the ancient landmasses on the earth’s surface. It was supposed to be one of the most stable land blocks.

The Himalayas and the Northern Plains are the most recent landforms, but the Himalayas are the most unstable zone.

The Himalayas represent a very youthful topography with high peaks, deep valleys and perennial rivers.

The Northern Plains are formed by alluvial deposits.

The Peninsular Plateau is composed of igneous and metamorphic rocks.

Therefore, geologically we find great physical variations in India due to certain changes formed by various tectonic movements inside the Earth.
