The largest cylinder is cut off from a log of wood of square base 30 cm x 30 cm and height 70 cm. Find the volume of remaining wood.

diam. = 30cm
r = 15cm
height = 70cm
volume of cone = 1*15*15*22*70/3*7
= 5 × 15 × 22 × 10
= 330 × 50
= 16500 cm³
Volume of wood left = total volume of block - volume of cone
= 30×30×70 - 16500
= 63000 - 16500
= 56500cm³ Ans.
