First subtract 5 from 70... So that bcomes 65 anf then substract 8 from 125 and that bcomes 117...and now hcf of 65 and 117 is 13..so 13 is the req. Largest number dividing 70 and 125 and leaving remaindrrs 5 and 8

raghavsdoshioyijt7: why do we have to substract 5 and 8
raghavsdoshioyijt7: ??????
zen900: because that will make it exactly divisible

Since we need largest number we need to take GCD.

Since remainders are given, numbers - remainders should be perfectly divided by the GCD

So numbers to be considered are 70 - 5 and 125 - 8 = 65 and 117

The GCD of the numbers is 13

So required number is 13
