M HAMEL : In the story THE LAST LESSON which is written by Alphonse Daudet , M hamel is a French teacher who is so passionate about French language , according to him French is the clearest, most beautiful and logical language. he has forty years of faithful service in the schools of Alsace and Lorraine. according to him language is the key to a persons's sense of freedom.
the students are scared of his long ruler and he was about to give his last lesson in French in Alsace and Lorraine because an order from berlin had come in which only german should be taught in the schools of Alsace and Lorraine. M hamel is a emotional , hardworking , patriotic teacher. he completed his last class with a quote " VIVE LA FRANCE ! " . refers long live France .
