Given:

  • The lateral area of a cylinder is 50π yards.

  • The height of a cylinder is 5.

To find out:

Find the radius of the base?

Formula used:

Lateral surface area of a cylinder = 2rh

Solution:

Lateral surface area of a cylinder = 50

→ 2rh = 50

→ 2 × r × 5 = 50

→ 10 × r = 50

→ r = 50/10

→ r = 5

Hence, The radius of the base is 5.

Extra information:

  • Volume of right circular cylinder = r²h

  • Volume of hollow cylinder = h ( R² - r² )

  • Total surface area of circular cylinder = 2r ( h + r )
  • Total surface area of hollow cylinder = 2Rh + 2rh + 2( R² - r² )
