The lateral walls of the chest cavity of man are composed of the :

--- ribs and intercostal muscles.

Because:

  • lungs are situated in the thoracic cavity(chest cavity).
  • our thoracic cavity arrangement is in such a way that any change in its volume or pressure will affect the pulmonary pressure, by which it further essential for inward and outward movement of air from the lungs.
  • Its is dorsally surrounded of vertebral column, ventrally by sternum, laterally by the ribs.
  • In between the ribs, external and internal intercoastal muscles which help in the passive and active breathing.
  • And lower side has dome-shaped diaphragm.

So right option is (C).
