We live on the continental crust.
Crust is the outermost layer of Earth and can be segregated to two parts:
oceanic and continental crust. The oceanic crust or the ocean bed is a lot more denser than continental crust because of varied rock densities which form them.
This is why the continental crust, on which we live, is highly elevated. Mantle, which lies, below these two crust is much more denser and that's why its beneath them.
Due to the elevation above sea level, it is possible for human to live on land.
