Given: Three fractions \frac{3}{5},  \frac{4}{7} \ and \  \frac{2}{9}

To find: The LCM and HCF of given fractions

Solution:

∵ LCM of fractions = \frac{LCM \ of \ numerators}{HCF \ of \ denominators}

and HCF of fractions = \frac{HCF \ of \ numerators}{LCM \ of \ denominators}

The given fractions are \frac{3}{5},  \frac{4}{7} \ and \  \frac{2}{9}

Numerators are 3, 4 and 2

Denominators are 5, 7 and 9

∵ LCM of numerators (3, 4 and 2) = 12

∵ HCF of numerators = 1

∵ LCM of denominators (5, 7 and 9) = 315

∵ HCF of denominators = 1

Therefore,

LCM of fractions = \frac{LCM \ of \ numerators}{HCF \ of \ denominators} = \frac{12}{1} = 12

HCF of fractions = \frac{HCF \ of \ numerators}{LCM \ of \ denominators} = \frac{1}{315}

Hence LCM and HCF of given fractions are 12 and  \frac{1}{315} respectively.
