Given

  • The LcM of 576 & 128 is 1152

To Find

  • The HcF

Concept used

  • Product of numbers=Product of HCF and LCM

Method 1

We have two numbers and their LCM we need to find their HCF. So we use the general formula which we use to find this

Product of numbers=Product of HCF and LCM

Here,

  • Number1=576
  • Number2=128
  • LCM=1152

It can be also written as

Number1×number2=LCM×HCF

Putting values

 \rm \: 576 \times 128 = 1152 \times \: HCF

Now take LCM in LHS

 \rm \:  \dfrac{576 \times 128}{1152}  = HCF \\  \\  \implies \rm \:  \frac{73728}{1152}  = HCF \\  \\  \underline{ \boxed{ \bf \:HCF = 64 }}

Therefore HCF of the numbers is 64

Method 2

Prime factors of 576= 2×2×2×2×2×2×3×3

Prime factors of 128= 2×2×2×2×2×2×2

So HCF=2×2×2×2×2×2=64

HCF=64

Note

Method 1 is more efficient then method 2 because the calculation is long in method 2
