the LCM of two numbers is 36 times that of their HCF the product of two numbers is 3600 find their HCF

Hi friend,

Let the HCF of two numbers be X.

Then the LCM be 36X.


Product of two numbers = 3600


WE KNOW THAT,


PRODUCT OF TWO NUMBERS = HCF × LCM

3600 = X × 36X


3600 = 36X²


X² = 3600/36 => 100

X = ✓100 = 10

HCF of two numbers = X = 10


and,

LCM of two numbers = 36X = 36 × 10 = 360.

LCM = 36x

We know,

Product of numbers = LCM×HCF

3600 = 36x × x

100 = x × x

100 = x²

√100 = x

±10 = x

Taking +ve, x =10



HCF =x = 10
