Given : The LCM of two numbers is 4 times HCF. If the sum of LCM and HCF is 45, and one of the numbers is 9
To find : sum of the squares of those numbers.
Solution:
Let say HCF = H
Then LCM = 4 * HCF = 4 H
Sum of LCM & HCF = 45
=> 4H + H = 45
=> 5H = 45
=> H = 9
=> HCF = 9
LCM = 4*9 = 36
LCM * HCF = one number * 2nd number
=> 36 * 9 = 9 * 2nd number
=> 2nd number = 36
Numbers are 9 & 36
sum of the squares of those numbers.
= 9² + 36²
= 9² (1 + 4²)
= 81(1 + 16)
= 81 (17)
= 1377
sum of the squares of those numbers. = 1377
