as when white light is incident on leaf all other colours of Vibgyor are absorbed by the leaf and only green colour is reflected back to the eye, so leaf appears green.(only the colours that are not absorbed and are reflected back are seen by the eye)

The leaves appear green when we see it in white light because it contains a green substance that called chlorophyll, these pigments absorb some wavelengths of white light and reflect others, and we see only green light reflected by them.

So, a green leaf will always look green because it absorb all the wavelengths of visible light spectrum except green colour.

Extra information:-

Chlorophyll- It is a green pigment found in almost all the green plants. It makes the leaf the green colour. It is vital for photosythesis.
