Given : senior lectures contributed an average of Rs 250 per head and the junior lectures contributed an average of rs 100. average contribution per lecture is rs 160 on the whole

To find : what percentage of the lectures are junior lectures

Solution:

Let say  Junior lecturers are  J

& Total Lectures = T

Hence Senior lecturers   = T - J

senior lectures contributed an average of Rs 250 per head

Contribution of senior lectures = 250(T-J)

junior lectures contributed an average of rs 100

=> Contribution of Junior lectures = 100J

Total Contribution =  250(T - J) + 100J

= 250T - 150J

Average contribution per lecture is rs 160

=> Total Contribution = 160T

250T - 150J = 160T

=> 90T = 150J

=> J =  90T/150

=> J = 3T/5

=> (J/T) = 3/5

=>  (J/T) * 100 = 100 * 3/5

=>  (J/T) * 100 = 60 %

60 %  lectures are junior lectures
