The left side of the heart has thicker walls than the right ventricle. Why??
Answers
ANSWER
The left ventricle is thicker than the right ventricle because the left ventricle pumps oxygenated blood around the entire body while the right ventricle only pumps blood to the lungs which is a much shorter distance.
This is why the left ventricle needs to pump the blood by generating more force during contraction to do this. This extra force is generated due to the additional muscle found in the left ventricle wall compared to the right ventricle wall. Additionally, the blood being pumped to the lungs from the right ventricle needs to be at lower pressure to prevent damage to the many thin capillaries the blood goes through in the lungs. This helps to explain why the wall of the right ventricle is thinner.
Answer :-
The left ventricle of your heart is larger and thicker than the right ventricle. This is because it has to pump the blood further around the body, and against higher pressure, compared with the right ventricle.
To make sure your blood flows in the correct direction, valves guard the entrance and exits of your hearts chambers.
