The legs of the given isosceles triangle are x+1 & -x+7

These legs are equal as the type of triangle is isosceles triangle.

So,
x+1 = -x+7
x+x=7-1
2x=6
x=6/2
x=3 ............................(1)

The base has length 3x-3
...............................(given )

The length of base =3x-3
=3(3)-3 ................... from (1)
=9-3
=6

Therefore,
The length of the base is 6units.

hope this helps ! ! !#
