legs of right angled triangle are 10, 24 and 26

Let proportionality constant is r.

length one of sides is 5x and the other side is 12x.

from Pythagoras theorem,

Hypotenuse² = base² + altitude²

if we assume 5x is base , then 12x is altitude

now, hypotenuse² = (5x)² + (12x)²

= 25x² + 144x²

= 169x²

= (13x)²

now hypotenuse = 13x

area of right angled triangle = 1/2 × base × altitude

⇒ 120 = 1/2 × 5x × 12x

⇒120 = 30x²

⇒x² = 4

⇒x = 2

so, hypotenuse = 13x = 13 × 2 = 26

base = 5x = 5 × 2 = 10

altitude = 12x = 12 × 2 = 24
